PDUs
A PDU is the unit PMI uses to measure continuing education. A certification does not last forever — it is maintained with PDUs, and chapter events are one of the cheapest ways to collect them.
What a PDU is
One PDU is one hour of learning or of giving back to the profession. PDUs are reported to PMI and accumulate over a three-year cycle that starts the day you earn the certification.
The PMI Talent Triangle
PMI splits PDUs into three areas. Every event we run carries PDUs in one or more of them, and it is written on the event page — as data, not as a sentence buried in prose.
Ways of Working
The technical side of the work: methods, planning, risk, scheduling, agile approaches.
Power Skills
Working with people: leading a team, communicating, negotiating, handling conflict.
Business Acumen
Understanding the business around the project: strategy, regulation, value to the organisation.
Education and giving back
PDUs come from two directions: education — talks, workshops, courses — and giving back to the profession, which covers volunteering, presenting and chapter work. PMI requires a minimum share of them to come from education.

Over a three-year cycle:

How our events earn them
- 01Every event states its PDUs per category, visible from the listing before you even open it.
- 02You claim them yourself through CCRS at pmi.org, as a “Course or Training” activity.
- 03Volunteering for the chapter earns PDUs in the Giving Back category.
How to claim them
- 1Sign in at pmi.org and open CCRS.
- 2Pick the activity type and enter the date and duration.
- 3Enter the PDUs per category — exactly as they appear on the event page.
- 4Keep your proof of attendance. PMI audits claimed PDUs from time to time.
